Waynflete Book Bash featuring Poetry Out Loud readings and “Big Nate” creator Lincoln Peirce

Thanks to “Print: A Bookstore” for hosting Waynflete’s first Book Bash, which was a smashing success!

Poetry Out Loud (Friday 12/1):

Ninth-grade students performed poems that they had chosen, studied, memorized, and made their own through months of hard work, guided practice, and one-on-one feedback from teachers and peers. Our students brought to life words by poets from Thomas Wyatt to Maya Angelou, bringing their own voices, quirks, and insights to texts both recent and ancient.

Big Nate in the house (Sunday 12/3)

Big Nate creator Lincoln Peirce spoke to a standing-room-only crowd about his character development process, the symbolism that cartoonists use, and the fact that art doesn’t need to be perfect.
