Current Opportunities
Camp Director (12/1/23)
Waynflete School is seeking a Camp Director to begin in February 2024. This position is approximately 10 hours per week February-April, 20 hours per week in May, and full-time during the operation of Waynflete Summer Camp in June and July. The Camp Director manages a dynamic educational and recreational program working closely with the Director and Assistant of Auxiliary Programs. Responsibilities include the supervision of 70+ staff members, oversight of 600+ campers over a 6-week period, coordination of camp schedules and logistics, communication with camp families, and program oversight.
The Camp Director must demonstrate outstanding interpersonal, written/verbal, organizational, project management, and technology skills. The ideal candidate has extensive experience working with Google platforms, MS Office Suite and CampBrain database management. They must enjoy working with children and communicating with a broad range of constituents. Flexibility and management of a wide variety of responsibilities in a dynamic, fast paced environment is essential. 2+ years of prior supervisory experience in camp or school administration is required. First Aid/CPR/AED training required.

Part-time Afterschool Teacher (11/15/23)
Waynflete is anticipating a hiring need for 1-2 part-time teachers for its Afterschool Program, which serves children from PK through Grade 8.. The Afterschool Program addresses students’ needs at the end of the school day with an inclusive, supportive community and engaging activities, including storytelling, art projects, and plenty of outdoor play.
The schedule is M,T,TH,F from 2:45-5:15 PM, with one afternoon until 6:00 PM, and Wednesdays from 11:30 AM-6:00 PM, for a total of 15-18 hours per week. Additional days of full-day programming occur during the school year, including dates in September before the first day of school, October, January, March, May and June directly following the last day of the school year; Afterschool teachers run these full day programs and are asked to reserve these dates/hours ahead of time. Anyone interested in working exclusively on Wednesdays is encouraged to reach out as well.
Qualifications: Teaching experience in a school or recreational environment desired. Qualified candidate may also have an opportunity to substitute for teachers in the Lower School. CHRC and DHHS fingerprinting will be required.

Long-term Substitute History Teacher (11/7/23)
Waynflete seeks a long-term substitute history teacher from April 22 through May 17, 2024 (with training/transition planning during the week of April 8). Responsibilities will include teaching three sections of 10th grade history (Topics in Global History) and one section of 9th grade history (World Civilizations). Candidates should have prior experience teaching high school history.
The 10th grade students will be working on a writing and research unit and the 9th grade students will be exploring the history of Christianity and Islam.

Bus Driver - Evenings and Weekends (9/21/23)
Waynflete is seeking a licensed school bus driver for approximately 20 hrs/wk. Duties will include driving for field trips, athletic, and other school-related events during the afternoon, evenings, and weekends. The successful candidate must have a positive attitude, enjoy children, work well in a team setting, and pass a school-required physical. Strong driving experience and a commitment to safety are essential. Commercial driver’s license with S endorsement required.

Waynflete Coach Openings for 2023–24 (9/7/23)
Waynflete is looking to fill the following coaching positions for the upcoming school year. Playing and/or coaching experience in the sport is required.
Winter 2023–24
- Middle School Nordic Skiing— Practices begin Oct 30, ends Feb 16. Practices are Mon/Thu/Fri 2:00–3:15 p.m. Races are after school usually at 3:30 p.m.
- Middle School Boys Basketball — Begins Oct 30, ends Feb 16. Practices are Mon/Thu/Fri 2:00–3:15 p.m. Games are after school usually at 3:30 or 4:30 p.m.
Spring 2024
- Middle School Baseball — Begins March 4, ends June 3. Practices are Mon/Thu/Fri 2:00–3:15 p.m. Games are after school usually at 3:30 p.m.

For teaching positions, a bachelor’s degree in relevant field is required; a master’s degree and teaching experience preferred. For administrative staff positions, we look for relevant experience and education for the posted job. We are particularly interested in candidates with a proven commitment to teaching and working in a diverse and multicultural setting.
Full background checks are required for all positions including fingerprinting as required by Maine State Law.
