Lower School
Learning to love school, right from the start.
You can feel it from the moment you walk into our new Lower School building: this is a place children want to be. Hands-on learning personalized to each student’s passions and potential. Teachers and friends they trust. Small class sizes. Surrounded by a caring community, Waynflete Lower School students inquire, explore, wonder, notice, connect, imagine, play, create, and collaborate.
EXPLORE
Inside Lower School
The bright energy of morning drop-off as students and families mingle on the playground and in the atrium. Mindful moments and morning meeting. Research papers, art projects, library books, field trips. One-on-one time with teachers, playground time with friends, and weekly Pachanga. Let our students show you what life at Waynflete Lower School is really like, and why they love it.
ACADEMICS
A different kind of classroom
ADMISSION EVENTS
See Waynflete for yourself.
Just as hands-on, experiential learning is core to our curriculum, exploring our campus and classrooms is an essential part of the application process. Our admission events are fun, interactive, no-pressure opportunities to observe classes, hear from students and teachers, talk with current parents, and more. See upcoming Admission events

Lower School Arts
Everyone shines
Seeing like an artist, moving like a dancer, lighting up a stage. Lower School students practice craft, absorb cultural traditions, and find inspiration as they explore ceramics, dance, drama, general music, stagecraft, studio art, and more.

Lower School Physical Education
Everyone plays
At the start of Lower School, children are mastering the ways their bodies can move through space. Within a few years, they begin to wield lacrosse sticks and run soccer drills. All the way through, they find the breathless, bright joys of being physically active and playing games with friends.
Lower School Student Supports
Academic Support
For students with documented learning challenges, Waynflete can provide tutoring, extended time, or other accommodations. Faculty advisors confer with students and families at the start of the school year to get a strong plan in place and check in regularly with tutors, students, parents, and teachers to monitor progress and address issues throughout the year. Waynflete advisors may recommend testing, evaluation, and academic support for students to address emerging issues.
Health Management Plans
Students managing ongoing health concerns or experiencing short-term health challenges like concussions can rely on the Waynflete health team to help them navigate temporary classroom location changes, elevator privileges, waived physical activity, and more.
Crisis Support
Waynflete knows it is not always possible to come to school healthy and ready to learn. Teachers and staff are attuned to students’ wellbeing and watch for early warning signs of emerging mental health challenges. Our robust wellness curriculum also focuses on mental health to empower students to seek help if they are concerned about themselves or a friend. We employ two licensed clinical social workers as well as consulting clinical psychologists to be able to quickly and effectively connect students in crisis with effective services and referrals.
THE WAYNFLETE WIRE
We know every student needs more this year.
More one-on-one attention from teachers. More hands-on, in-depth, challenging learning. More time to connect with friends. See how Waynflete will make the most of this school year
