Scavenger hunt in Middle School math
Math teachers Cathy Douglas and Rhoen Fiutak recently gave a quiz on systems of equations in Algebra 1 Accelerated—in the form of a scavenger hunt! Students had to solve systems of equations to find the coordinates of locations where clues could be found. Armed with a map of the school grounds with an x/y axis on it, student groups made their way around campus. At each spot there was a letter to be collected (six in total). Back in the classroom, students unscrambled their letters to reveal the code word: “linear.” Math in action!
