Get Stressed for Your Health?

“Chasing meaning is better for your health than trying to avoid discomfort…. The best way to make decisions is go after what it is that creates meaning in your life and then trust yourself to handle the stress that follows.”  With that advice, health psychologist Kelly McGonical ends her TED talk confessional, in which she reveals that her prior teachings about stress as the enemy “is doing more harm than good.”  On Thursday, with exams looming next week, juniors and sophomores watched her talk and discussed it in their POD groups.  The hug-fest that ensued afterwards is evidence of their attentiveness to Dr. McGonical’s message.  Click here to find out why.
