Boys Summer Basketball

Summer basketball practices:

Our summer basketball program for returning and aspiring varsity players begins the week of June 17.

Practices – We will have weekly practices on Tuesdays, 6/18, 6/25, 7/2, 7/9, 7/16, and  7/23, from 6-7:30 pm.  All practices will be held at the Waynflete gym.

Games – at this point in time we have the following games/scrimmages:

  • Monday, July 1st at Gray/New Gloucester, 6 pm (Lake Region) and 7 pm (G/NG)
  • Wednesday, July 10th at Old Orchard Beach High School, 6 pm
  • Monday, July 22nd at Old Orchard Beach High School, 6 pm
  • Saturday, July 27th, at Winthrop Summer Tournament (attached). Games are at 1pm (Winthrop), 4 pm (Spruce Mountain) and 6 pm (Boothbay).  There is a possibility of playing on Sunday 7/28 based on win/loss record

There is also a potential that we will have some games on Sunday afternoons in the MBR league.

The primary objectives of our summer activities are to start to develop the team chemistry for our varsity program, provide an opportunity for returning players to step up to their new roles and for players who aspire to play on the varsity to get familiar with the level of competition, pace of play, and how we practice.  Attending the practice sessions are a great way for the younger players to get acclimated to things, and we look to get them playing time in our games as appropriate based on skill/age level. We realize that summer in Maine is short, and typically a busy time for players, coaches, and their families, so we look to have a relatively modest schedule compared to the teams we compete against.
