Middle School Athletics
Core skills. Can-do attitudes. No tryouts. No cuts.
In Middle School, the most important thing athletics can teach you is the joy of playing for a team.
We know Middle School students arrive at Waynflete with a wide range of athletic aptitudes and skills, and our athletic program makes sure every student can’t wait to get out and play. Grade 6 physical education focuses on core skills for team sports, getting students ready to join the team sports of their choice in Grades 7 and 8. Our newest Waynflete Flyers always bring high energy, big enthusiasm, and great attitudes to every game.
Grade 6 Clinics
While the Grade 6 physical education curriculum includes introductory units on all our team sports, we supplement skills training throughout the year with optional, free clinics in team sports like basketball and lacrosse. These fun, casual workouts help athletes get moving while gaining confidence and proficiency.
Independent Athletic Program
Students with an interest or aptitude for a sport outside of the Middle School curriculum can fulfill part of their athletics requirements with an IAP. Popular IAPs include gymnastics, sailing, alpine skiing, ballet, and more.

“One of the joys of leading our Middle School is the opportunity to cultivate curiosity, create an atmosphere of mutual care and respect, and guide moments of courage as students discover their own voices and sense of individual agency. Identity is the work of Middle School, and I am grateful to be a part of its emergence.”
