FAQs for Kids

Is Waynflete Flyers Camp fun?

We want everyone to have a great time! This means we let you try new things, help you get to know your counselors and your camper group, and give you plenty of time for games and activities outside.

Where is the camp?

Most of the Flyers Camp programs run at the main Waynflete campus, located at 360 Spring Street in Portland's West End. On campus, Flyers Camps are based in the Art Center, the large gymnasium, and our beautiful new Lower School, in which campers enjoy air-conditioned spaces and inspiring views. Outdoors, we have two playgrounds, the tetherball court, Waynhenge center green, and Piney Woods, our shady outdoor meeting place.

Except for basketball, most of the sports camps run at the Waynflete Fore River Fields (FRF) location, on Outer Congress Street in Portland. The Fields include a field house (with bathrooms), two playing fields, a baseball field, walking trails, and six tennis courts.

Who will run my camp program?

Experienced coaches and teachers design and run the programs. Counselors, talented college and high school students, help make the camp day extra fun!

Will I be the only camper who doesn't know anyone?

Our campers come from all over the place. Last summer we had kids from most area schools, international visitors from Taiwan, Switzerland, China, and Holland, vacationing families and Waynflete students. Camp is only fun if we make sure everyone gets to know each other!

What if I don't like my program?

We want you to have fun. If you give a program a try for a day or two and find it's not a good match, we will work with you to try to find a spot in another program (if we have space).
