Counselor in Training

As CITs, our oldest campers learn leadership skills and what it takes to be a counselor. Through discussion, team building activities, and practice, CITs grow into an awareness of the counselor role and duties. CITs will work together to accomplish a group project, practice lesson planning for an area of interest, shadow mentor counselors, and assist Program Directors in activities. Day by day, teens gain practical experience working and communicating effectively with peers and younger campers. As a leader, each CIT will begin the transitional process from a free-wheeling camper into a reliable, resourceful counselor. Debriefing each day’s ups and downs helps CITs to process what they are learning and provides time for encouragement and acknowledgement of growth. CITs discover that learning new responsibilities is both demanding and fun. This is a two week program.
