Class of 2023 Senior Gift
Senior Gift
Each year, families of the senior class have an opportunity to make a gift to Waynflete in celebration of their child’s journey to graduation.
Parents, grandparents, and extended family members find that the Senior Gift is a wonderful way to show gratitude for the lifelong gift of a Waynflete education.
The Senior Gift encourages new and increased support of the School through our Waynflete Fund. When you give to the Waynflete Fund, you are strengthening educational programs, the curriculum, and extracurricular activities. You are investing directly in the Waynflete experience and honoring the great work of exceptional teachers.
Our hope is that each senior family will make a gift before June 30.
A message from our 2023 Senior Gift Co-Chairs Jim and Eileen Hornor, P ’21, ’23
It is a Sunday evening as we write this. We have just returned home from visiting our daughter Helen for her sophomore Family Celebration Weekend at Skidmore College. Helen is a thriving and happy English and Studio Art major. She sings in an a capella group, has a lovely group of friends, and is on the Dean’s List.
When we arrived back home in Freeport late this afternoon, we found our kitchen island buried under a heap of Calculus and Biology books, binders, an article about fascism, a laptop, a soccer bag. Charlie was upstairs comparing fantasy football results with his friends, many of whom we have known since they were seven years old.
We are so proud of our children, and we are so grateful to Waynflete for helping to launch them into the world as bright, curious, kind young people. They are very different–with different academic interests and different approaches to everything from politics to socializing–and yet they both love and have loved Waynflete for the ten years we have been involved with the school. As parents, we have often marveled at how one institution has served them both so well.
Waynflete provides a remarkable environment for students of all kinds. Helen and Charlie have been challenged and supported by the school’s amazing teachers, coaches, and advisors throughout the years. They have learned to think critically, engage in the world around them with compassion, and push themselves to do more than they thought possible, be it auditioning for a competitive singing group or succeeding in Advanced Biology.
We will miss Waynflete and the strong sense of community that we have enjoyed here. It is with deep gratitude that we make our senior gift and serve as chairs of the Senior Gift Committee.
