Supporting the Black Lives Matter Movement

We all must stand beside members of the Black community here at Waynflete and in the broader community. The deaths of George Floyd, Breonna Taylor, Ahmaud Arbery and countless others are a tragic reminder that our inaction allows systemic racism to persist. Racism permeates every aspect of American life and it is our obligation to do something about it. In order to end racism in this country, we must actively choose to educate ourselves on matters of race, white privilege, and our deeply rooted anti-Blackness. We must be actively anti-racist.

While anti-racism and diversity have always been at the center of a Waynflete education, we know there is more we can do. We have already begun a deeper conversation with students, faculty, families, alumni, and other members of our community about both the short- and long-term actions that we must take to support the Black Lives Matter movement. We will continue to share updates as this work continues.

Below is a compilation of resources that we will add to over time. I am truly grateful to our friends at Maret School in Washington, D.C. who provided the original list. Together we can become anti-racist and celebrate each other’s humanity.
