SPECIAL EVENTS
- Auction Fundraising Auction and social evening for parents, faculty, staff and friends. Proceeds go to the Waynflete Financial Aid Fund. Volunteers needed for item solicitation, item pick-up, decorations, administrative work, set-up, working at event, and more. Opportunities for everyone - time commitments range from an hour or two to days or more.
Grandparents and Friends Day Grandparents and special friends attend an assembly, reception and classes. Volunteers needed to bake, greet, guide and serve.
Spring Fling Annual spring fair includes games, food, baked goods, barbecue and more. Proceeds benefit Financial Aid. Volunteers needed for all committees, preparing foods for sale, working at event.
DEVELOPMENT
- Donor Solicitation/Phonathons Work together with other parents to help raise funds for the unrestricted Annual Fund.
GENERAL SKILLS
- There are always opportunities to help with or lend your expertise with: mailings, photography, graphic design, gardening, and computer skills.
ADMISSIONS
- Opportunities to help with administrative work, admission events, and admission outreach activities.
LIBRARY
- Book Fair Help set up and decorate for the annual book fair. Other volunteer opportunities in the Library include: on-going projects (e.g. re-shelving, processing new materials) and special projects.
ARTS
- Art Show Receptions Volunteers needed to provide refreshments and staff the openings.
Other volunteer activities in the arts include: Parents Committee on the Arts, student art displays, studio art assistant, music practice coach, costumes, and art history expertise.
ATHLETICS
- Help as a timer for games or participate on the Parent Athletic Council.
PARENTS ASSOCIATION
- Faculty and Staff Appreciation Luncheon Annual luncheon put on by Parents Association to acknowledge the dedication and hard work of faculty and staff. Salad buffet and strawberry shortcake prepared and served by parent volunteers. Volunteers needed for cooking (salads, breads, strawberries) and working at event (set-up, serve, clean-up).
Provide Refreshments for Parent Evening Programs.
*Parents Association Officers, Class Parents and Committee Chairs These positions are filled through a separate volunteer process. Watch for a mailing in January/February for your opportunity to get more involved with the Parents Association.
CLASSROOM OPPORTUNITIES
- Lower School Parents wishing to volunteer in Lower School must attend an orientation meeting in the fall. You may get involved by chaperoning field trips, helping prepare food with the class and providing academic support in the weekly classroom volunteer program beginning in the Second Grade.
Middle School Volunteers are needed for Curriculum Thrust during the first week of school; to chaperone the Sixth Grade Pond Field Trip; to help with the Eighth Grade Musical; to assist with Poetry Week; and to help with the Conflict Resolution Program.
Upper School Upper School students have opportunities to do Independent Studies, Senior Projects and a variety of other activities. Sometimes parents can be a useful resource as experts in the areas the students are studying. If you have an area of expertise that you would be willing to share with Upper School students, if the need arises, please list it on the Volunteer Form. This list will be given to the Director of Upper School and Upper School faculty. If they are looking for assistance in your area of interest, they will contact you.
