Waynflete's advising curriculum addresses the specific needs of children along the entire fifteen-year age range of the school. Students begin two-year relationships with their advisors when they enter the first year of any grouping. Starting in kindergarten, each multi-age grouping is divided into four homestations, comprised of a primary teacher and an equal representation of students from each grade.
Primary teachers serve as advisors to their homestation students, offering academic and social guidance in a climate of compassion, integrity, self-respect, and appreciation for individual differences. Advising in the Lower School focuses on learning skills and habits, and on personal and social skills. Advisors maintain close contact with parents, and formal conferences are held twice annually; final reports are mailed in June.
